Several mobile homes were lost in a fire at a resort in Clarence-Rockland, Ont., Tuesday evening.
Local firefighters were called to the Mapleview resort around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The community’s fire Chief Martin Rousseau told Radio-Canada in French that wind helped spread the flames between homes.
It took about 60 firefighters, including assistance from Ottawa and The Nation, to control the fire.
Resort manager Steve Gagnon told Radio-Canada that 12 trailers were lost.
“It’s definitely hard,” he said Wednesday. “It looks like a war zone back there. It’s very sad.”

The resort offers shorter- and longer-term stays.
“I arrived on Sunday for the summer,” said Rachelle Deschênes from Embrun. “Now I’m leaving with my food, a bit of clothing, some medication.”
The cause is under investigation.
