During a fireside chat at the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Prime Minister Mark Carney said it will be necessary to expand port capacity at the Port of Vancouver as quickly as possible as Canada seeks to double its non-U.S. exports and expand trade with Asian markets. He said such an expansion project will only work in collaborative consolations between the province of B.C., First Nations and industry stakeholders to ensure both economic and environmental benefits are achieved.
