A bear warning has been issued west of Cochrane along Highway 40 from King Creek to Highwood Junction due to increased bear activity.
Officials say multiple sightings have been reported, with bears and other wildlife using the roadway as a travel corridor because of late spring conditions.

The advisory affects several recreation areas, including Highwood Pass, Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, and surrounding day-use sites in Kananaskis Country.
Hikers and visitors are being reminded to travel in groups, make noise, keep pets on a leash, and carry bear spray that is easily accessible. Officials also urge people to secure food and scented items and report any sightings.
The warning remains in effect until further notice.
