The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says it has seized more than $8 million worth of drugs as part of a national drug-trafficking investigation.
In a news release Wednesday, EPS said about 80 kilograms of cocaine was seized when a search warrant was executed on April 16 in the area of 109th Street and Jasper Avenue.
Along with the cocaine, EPS said officers also found 176 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 23 kilograms worth of a buffing agent, a firearm, ammunition and about $30,000 in cash.
EPS said it began a joint drug-trafficking investigation with Parkland RCMP in February 2026, and said it was tied to shared intelligence and findings from a Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) investigation that was already underway.
“Strong partnerships and intelligence sharing are essential to disrupting drug trafficking across the country,” Staff Sgt. Jen McCann with the EPS’ Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement unit said in the news release.
Police said after the search warrant in Edmonton was executed, one suspect was later arrested and now faces charges, including five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of the proceeds of crime.
The EPS said the seizure was part of a collaborative, two-year investigation in partnership with the WPS and RCMP.
A broader WPS investigation concluded in March. As a result of that interprovincial probe, 33 people were arrested and more than $37 million worth of drugs were seized in what police in Winnipeg called the largest drug bust in Manitoba history.
