Movie screenings under the stars are returning to Toronto, and this year’s film lineup will have you clearing your evening calendars.
Starting this June, Toronto Outdoor Picture Show, lovingly known as TOPS, will host its 16th summer open-air cinemas in the city.
And the 2026 film selection has officially been released.
“This TOPS season will be a summer-long odyssey with a programme titled ‘Going Places,’ about the journeys that shape us and the adventures we find when we travel outside our everyday surroundings,” according to the team.
Kicking off with a special three-night opening weekend at Christie Pits Park from June 26 to 28, TOPS will launch with a screening of “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie.”
Moviegoers can enjoy a pre-show introduction from the stars of the film, Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol.
Located at 777 Crawford St., the festival will run at Christie Pits on Sundays throughout July and August.
On Thursdays in July, Torontonians can catch a flick at Corktown Commons, found at 155 Bayview Ave.
Plus, the festival will return to Bell Manor Park, 1 Bayside Ln., this summer from Aug. 13 to 15.
And while TOPS is known for its screenings at the Fort York National Historic Site, it will not be hosting movies at 250 Fort York Blvd. in 2026 as the space will be in use for official Fan Festival celebrations throughout the FIFA World Cup.
Last year in 2025, TOPS presented free public programming to more than 36,000 residents and tourists at events in three green spaces throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

All TOPS screenings are free to the public and do not require tickets or advanced registration to attend. Showtime starts at sundown and guests are asked to bring their own blankets or chairs to make themselves comfy.
Films are screened with open captioning, and showings are also paired with a short film from Canadian and Indigenous filmmakers.
