Albertans are uniting to fight back against a government working for Trump, separatists, and corporate insiders.

EDMONTON – Momentum is building rapidly for the May 29 Alberta-wide Day of Protest, with local organizers planning actions mobilizing in 13 communities across Alberta.

Protests are now confirmed in communities including Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, St. Albert, Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, Stettler, Langdon, Airdrie, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Thousands of workers, families, and community members are expected to participate in coordinated demonstrations against the Smith government.

Albertans are done sitting quietly while this government attacks workers, public services, and our communities. When governments stop responding to normal democratic signals, citizens need to get louder – and more disruptive. We are preparing to move from polite demonstration to purposeful, non-violent disruption in defense of our democracy. On May 29, Albertans are taking to the streets. And this is just the beginning.

While working families struggle with sky-high costs and crumbling public services, the Smith government is caving to separatist con men, enabling foreign interference, and aligning Alberta with Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda. Albertans are done being ignored while a desperate, weak, and corrupt government works for insiders and foreign interests, instead of Albertans.

The Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) launched Fight Back Now! earlier this year in response to what it describes as a government increasingly consumed by separatism, ideological crusades, and the interests of corporate insiders – at the expense of ordinary working families struggling with the highest auto insurance rates in the country, sky-high grocery prices, and record utility bills.

Albertans are done being squeezed by corporate greed while governments dismantle the services we all rely on and trample our rights. On May 29, working people across Alberta are drawing a line in the sand, and we are prepared to fight for the future we deserve.
