Two men are facing a lengthy list of firearms-related charges after Peel Regional Police allegedly discovered a loaded handgun during a late-night traffic stop in Mississauga.
According to investigators with the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, officers stopped a vehicle shortly after 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, near Torbram Road and Drew Road.
Police said the vehicle’s occupants were detained under the authority of the Cannabis Act during the investigation. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a loaded illegally possessed handgun along with a magazine containing ammunition.
As a result of the investigation, Tyrell Foote, 25, of Mississauga, and Kieshawn Morgan, 20, of Toronto, were arrested and charged with multiple offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
Morgan also faces an additional charge of breaching a probation order. Police say he was subject to a probation order connected to a previous criminal conviction at the time of his arrest.
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
