Two men face numerous charges after a traffic stop last weekend near Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga led to the recovery by police of an illegal loaded handgun.
Peel Regional Police said a vehicle was pulled over at around 1:35 a.m. this past Sunday in the area of Torbram and Drew roads, just north of the airport in Malton.
A subsequent search of the car resulted in the seizure of a loaded illegally possessed handgun and a magazine containing ammunition, police said in a news release on Friday.
Two men were arrested a short time later.
Tyrell Foote, 25, of Mississauga, and Kieshawn Morgan, 20, of Toronto, are each charged with various firearm and weapon offences.
Foote is additionally charged with an alleged cannabis offence while Morgan is additionally charged with breaching a probation order.
Both accused were held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
The investigation continues.
