Northbound lanes of stal’ew’asem closed this weekend

The northbound lanes of the stal̕əw̓asəm bridge will be closed from Friday night (May 22) at 9 p.m. to around 5 a.m. Monday (May 25).

“A closure of both northbound lanes is required on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge for Fraser Crossing Partners to install a span of the multi-use path overpass superstructure adjacent to the Bridge Connector. Southbound traffic will be maintained,” reads a Pattullo Bridge replacement news release. “Nearby residents will hear noise associated with construction activities that involve the installation of steel girders, including bolting and pinning, for approximately two weeks.”

The closure of the bridge will only be in effect for the weekend, but work will be done 24/7, including weekends, with nighttime construction starting on May 22. Crews will aim to do the noisier construction during the day, “some of these activities are sequential and will need to be completed at night, leading to nighttime noise.”

Drivers are encouraged to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges during the closure.

The northbound N19 NightBus will be rerouted over the Queensborough and Alex Fraser.

There will also be a full closure next weekend, from May 29 to June 1, as crews complete installation of the multi-use overpass structure.
