A political newcomer has added his name to the growing list of candidates running to be mayor of Winnipeg.
Joshua Pagdato, 39, works as a document management specialist in the fields of logistics and supply chain.
He is also the founder of a social media group called Project Protect the Kids Canada, which posts information about missing children.
A born-and-raised Winnipegger, Pagdato believes his experience as “a policy and systems guy” can help him fix some of Winnipeg’s ills.
“I’m running because I believe Winnipeg is experiencing overlapping system failures involving housing, addiction, public disorder, affordability and public burnout.”
Pagdato said he’s also motivated to make the city better for his 10-year-old daughter and her generation.
“I would like to house the homeless, heal the sick and lower the cost of living,” he said.
Pagdato is the seventh mayoral candidate to register for the Oct. 28 municipal election.
He joins incumbent Scott Gillingham, Mazher Alam, Chris Clacio, Umar Hayat, Mike Vogiatzakis and Don Woodstock on the ballot.
Prospective mayoral candidates have until Sept. 22 to register.
The registration period for city councillor and school trustee candidates opens June 30.
