UPDATE: Large fire in Delta destroys East Ladner barn

Dozens of Delta firefighters were called to battle a large barn fire in East Ladner Thursday afternoon.
Delta Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 5200-block of 104th Street at about 3:11 p.m. on May 21.
Upon their arrival, crews encountered “heavy fire involvement and dense black smoke emanating from a large barn,” according to a city spokesperson.
“It was confirmed that all livestock had been successfully evacuated prior to firefighter arrival.”
Six fire trucks and 24 firefighters were assigned to the incident, and crews remained on scene throughout the night to extinguish hot spots.
No injuries were reported, however pictures from the scene appear to show the structure was completely destroyed.
On Friday afternoon (May 22), a city spokesperson confirmed that Delta Fire’s investigation into the blaze determined the cause of ignition to be human error.
“At this time, there is no indication of the fire being considered as suspicious.”
Jamie Leighton, owner of popular local food truck and catering business Porkmafia, said in a post on the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages that the property’s owners “lost their entire barn.”
Leighton, who runs his business from the site, also lost his rotisserie trailer and large smoker in the fire, as well as thousands of dollars worth of fridges and other equipment — “everything I run my business with” — all of it uninsured.
He initially put out a call to find a commercial fridge so he could continue to operate, and a neighbour was able to help him out.
On Friday morning (May 22), he posted a list of other items lost in the fire needed to keep his business running, including dry cherry or apple wood, large coolers, folding six-by-three tables, and Metro or Cambro foam six-pan hot holding boxes.
