A person is in hospital after a serious crash in the Transcona area, Winnipeg police say.

Someone drove into a street lamp post along Redonda Street and knocked it over early Sunday morning, police said. No other vehicle was involved, they said.

The driver was airlifted to hospital in critical condition, officers said at around 9:30 a.m.

A section of Redonda Street between Kildare Ave. East and Victoria Ave. East was expected to be closed until around noon as the traffic division investigates the crash, police said.
