Surrey council will vote Monday on buying 15 trucks and three vans for $2,982,634.12.
Scott Neuman, Surrey’s general manager of engineering, recommends council to approve contracts to Metro Motors Ltd. to supply three heavy-duty trucks and five winter maintenance trucks, as well as 10 other various replacements for its fleet including three medium-duty and four light-duty trucks as well as three vans.
“The existing vehicles have reached the end of their service life due to age and condition,” Neuman notes in a corporate report. “To support the City’s corporate emissions reduction targets, several of the replacement vehicles are dual-fuel vehicles capable of operating on both compressed natural gas and gasoline.”
