TWO of Fermanagh’s top boxing prospects rolled back the years as they returned to Holy Trinity Primary School for a special assembly where they offered an insight into their sporting careers.
Enniskillen boxing prospects Rhys Owens and Alfie Harvey were invited back to the local school to share their experiences and reflect on their journeys since leaving the classroom.
Both have made strong progress in the sport of boxing, with Rhys recently celebrating a successful start to his professional career, having won his first three bouts.

Rhys spoke about the importance of discipline, commitment and resilience in achieving success, encouraging the children to stay focused on their goals both inside and outside of school.
‘Lights Out‘ Owens made it three professional wins from three at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast in March when he proved too strong for Mexican opponent Alexander Morales.
The Enniskillen man, who is the first professional boxer from Fermanagh in over 50 years, is keen to make his mark in the sport.
“My team feel now is the time to start stepping it up to six rounds. With this performance [against Morales], I feel I’ve proved I’m ready to crack on and they’re happy enough too,” Rhys explained.
Young stars
Meanwhile, in February, young Alfie Harvey proved he’s got what it takes to be one of the county’s top boxers after he won the Ulster Novice Championship title in Gilford in Down.
Boxing out of the Erne Boxing Club, Harvey was the club’s sole entrant into the Ulster Novice championships, boxing smartly to the provincial decider, where he claimed victory over Kane Hill.
Staff and pupils warmly welcomed the visit, with the school expressing pride in the achievements of its former students and wishing both Owens and Harvey continued success.
