A 37-year-old man has died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a vehicle in East York early Tuesday morning.
According to investigators, the rider was part of a group of motorcyclists who were allegedly racing southbound on Bayview Avenue, near Pottery Road just before 12:30 a.m.
Police say one of the motorcyclists made contact with a black Honda CRV travelling northbound, causing the rider to lose control and crash.
He was thrown from his bike, according to detectives, and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the other motorcycle riders who were with him took off.
An investigation is ongoing.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt put out a message on social media Tuesday morning reminding drivers about road safety.
“Motorcycle season is here,” Schmidt said. “The OPP have already investigated 6 motorcycle fatalities.”
“Excessive speed and loss of control were the most common causes of these collisions,” he added. “In one of the deaths, the motorcyclist was driving properly, which means it was a result of the other driver that caused the crash.”
