Johnny Manziel isn’t throwing the football for a payday anymore; now he’s throwing punches and kicks.
The former Texas A&M football star who won a Heisman Trophy with the Aggies in 2012 made his fighting debut this past weekend. Manziel, 33, fought social media personality Bob Menery in an amateur MMA bout as part of the the Brand Risk 14 event in Las Vegas.
It wasn’t exactly a technical showcase, but Manziel won in the first round, mounting and striking Menery repeatedly before the referee called the fight. The former athlete then rose to his feet and performed UFC champion Israel Adesayna’s trademark celebration.
“This was good enough for one time,” Manziel said.
