Timothy Olyphant is setting the record straight on his infamous feud with his Justified co-star Walton Goggins. The two reportedly had a falling out while filming the hit FX television series.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Olyphant addresses the reported feud between the two Justified stars, which both actors have publicly denied over the years. “Let me tell you something. Walt Goggins is one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with. I love him,” he said. “I would even say I have a deep friendship with that man, and so I only care about the things that he and I say directly to each other.”
When it comes down to it, Olyphant believes that he and Goggins just have a different approach when it comes to their work. “There are a lot of different ways of [doing this job], and he has his,” he shared, before recalling their most recent encounter. “We were in Bangkok for Alien when he was in Ko Samui for The White Lotus. My wife and I went down specifically to hang out with him. Anytime you see a friend on the other side of the world, it’s like, ‘Hey, look at us!’ He seemed to be having a good time to me.”

In 2024, Goggins talked about the differences the two actors had while working on Justified. “We had a tough time towards the end,” he said. “We were so deep into these people we were playing, and they were so polar opposite at this point in the story. I think we were both obsessed with our own points of view, just carrying the weight of this conflict.”
Justified originally ran on FX from 2010 to 2015, with Olyphant starring as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens as he enforces his own personal brand of justice in the Appalachian area of eastern Kentucky. Goggins played Boyd Crowder, the son of one of the area’s biggest career criminals who has his own feud with Raylan. Goggins had a recurring role in Season 1 and went on to be a main cast member from Season 2 onwards.
Olyphant and Goggins Reunited for Justified’s Latest Miniseries
Despite there being some tensions while filming Justified toward the end of the series, Olyphant and Goggins were able to put it all behind them and work together again in 2023 for the franchise’s miniseries, City Primeval. It continued the story from its predecessor, seeing Rayland Givens leaving Kentucky for Miami and Detroit, where he pursues The Oklahoma Wildman who has been eluding police capture.
Goggins had a special guest role in City Primeval, returning as Boyd Crowder. The miniseries ran for eight episodes on FX and saw Olyphant earning a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Justified is streaming on Hulu.
