Police are investigating a homicide after a man in Surrey, B.C., was shot dead in a vehicle just after midnight early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to calls of a shooting around 12:22 a.m. in the area of 138 Street and 62 Avenue in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood, according to a release from the Surrey Police Service (SPS).
It said they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had hit a power pole.
Despite life-saving efforts, the release said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed two ambulances responded to the incident, and no one was taken to hospital.
No arrests have been made, and the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation, according to the SPS release.
