Winnipeggers celebrated the annual Taste of Asia festival, one of the city’s largest events showcasing the diversity of Asian cultures this weekend.
The free festival at Memorial Park had dozens of vendors, performers and community groups representing a wide range of cultures all in one place.
“It’s great, it’s really important for diverse cultures, especially Folklorama and all that it’s great to see that we’re doing this in Winnipeg,” said of one of the attendees.
Newcomers and long-time residents came out despite the scorching weather Sunday to try everything from street food to desserts and traditional dishes from different regions across Asia.
“It brings people joy,” said another attended. “Everyone is together here and despite the differences, we’re all just like one community here”
Besides the food, there was an eating challenge, a fashion show, cultural performances and stalls by artisans.
