The ninth event of the LIV Golf season will be staged in its ninth different country as the embattled league heads to its most iconic venue.

LIV returns to Valderrama – the home of the 1997 Ryder Cup – only days after Joaquin Niemann won his eighth individual title in Korea. The tournament will again be played under a backdrop of uncertainty as LIV fights for its future without the backing of the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Course: Par 71; 7,010 yards
Format: 72-hole stroke play with no cut
Individual purse: $20 million ($4m winner’s share)
Team purse: $10 million ($3m winner’s share)

LIV Golf Andalucia field

Phil Mickelson is expected to miss the tournament after taking an extended break with an undisclosed family health matter. Travis Smyth, the Australian reserve, is set to replace Paul Casey, who is nursing a wrist injury. Smyth won the team event in Korea as part of Crushers GC in Casey’s absence.
