WINNIPEG — Former UND quarterback and tight end Quincy Vaughn scored his first CFL touchdown on Friday night.

In classic Vaughn style, the CFL rookie for the Calgary Stampeders plunged into the end zone from the 1 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Winnipeg at Princess Auto Stadium.

Former UND defensive back Evan Holm was one of the first defenders to meet Vaughn near the goal line.

Holm, a starting defensive back for the Blue Bombers, later intercepted a pass from Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams, a former Eastern Washington standout.

Vaughn’s touchdown run gave Calgary a 7-3 lead on Winnipeg in the first quarter.

Former UND running back Brady Oliveira had nine carries for 39 yards in the first half for Winnipeg.
