A 23-year-old woman from Brampton, Ont., is facing a criminal charge after police say they found an infant dead inside a home.
Peel regional police said Monday that officers responded to a call in the area of Kennedy Road North and Williams Parkway around 8:23 p.m. the previous night.
When they arrived, officers found an infant dead inside the home, police said.

Const. Tyler Bell said the accused woman is the infant’s mother.
Police found her in hospital and charged her with concealing the body of a child after birth, he said. The woman remains in hospital while in police custody, he said.
Bell said investigators are trying to determine when the infant was born and whether it was alive at the time. Based on how the call came in, it would appear the child was born that same day, he said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact them.
They said the incident is deeply distressing and mental health support is being provided to the officers involved.
