Two people from Mississauga face charges after a shooting in Caledon earlier this year led police to the discovery of cocaine and a pair of arrests.
Ontario Provincial Police said on Monday the series of events unfolded on March 18 at around 10 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Bambi Trail in the Bolton area of Caledon.
No injuries were reported, according to police, who added a white Kia SUV was spotted leaving the scene of the shooting.
Subsequent investigation led police to execute two search warrants at a Mississauga home, one on April 21 and the latest this past Thursday, OPP said in a news release.
As a result, officers seized some 16.6 grams of cocaine and “items consistent with the sale and trafficking of drugs, as well as other evidence that was relevant to the shooting investigation,” police said.
Devanie Lewis, 36, of Mississauga, is charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — cocaine.
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner.
Juan Roman De Leon, 39, of Mississauga, is charged with:
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing and remain in custody.
