Signs on the restaurant doors hint at another business to open in the space.
A Richmond restaurant operating under a well-known Vancouver Japanese dining brand unexpectedly closed without notice.
Miku opened at Richmond’s River Rock Casino and Resort on Feb. 17, featuring a 4,900-square-foot space and 80 seats.
But the “Miku” sign has since been taken down, and a new sign has been placed on the restaurant’s glass doors saying it is temporarily closed and that “something exciting is coming soon.”
The inside of the restaurant appears to be left untouched.
Aburi Restaurants Canada, which is the owner of the “Miku” brand, said “they understand that the Richmond location closed.”
However, they told the Richmond News the group “ceased involvement in this location on or about May 15.”
“Aburi is not and has never been the lessee of this location,” said Aburi Restaurants Canada in a media statement.
“Aburi remains committed to delivering the exceptional dining experiences our guests have come to expect. We invite you to visit us at our other Vancouver locations and look forward to welcoming you soon.”
The News has reached out to the Great Canadian Entertainment, which operates River Rock Casino and Resort, for comment.
