A 17-year-old boy from Winnipeg died in a highway crash in northern Ontario on Tuesday afternoon.
A semi-trailer truck and passenger vehicle collided on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17) west of Kenora, said a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police, who were called to the scene around 1:45 p.m.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A long stretch of the highway, going as far as the West Hawk Lake weigh station in Manitoba, was closed for several hours, reopening just before 9 p.m.
Police have not released any additional information on the cause of the crash, or if the 17-year-old was a driver or passenger in the vehicle.
