The body of a 22-year-old  man was found in a park in the city’s Villeray district Wednesday night as Montreal Island recorded its 10th homicide of the year.

Montreal police found the body of the man as they responded to reports of gunshots around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of de Lanaudière and de Castelnau Sts.

Officers found the body in Turin Park, just south of the intersection. The victim had been shot at least once in the upper body and was declared dead at the scene. Shell casings were found in the area.

Investigators will interview witnesses, have called in a canine unit and intend to examine the recordings of any local surveillance cameras in an effort to determine what happened.
