Four teenagers were arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal stabbing a day earlier of a 22-year-old man inside a Walmart store in Montreal North.

Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said the arrests of the 15-year-olds were carried out in the boroughs of St-Léonard and Montreal North and the four are expected to appear in Youth Court later Thursday.

The stabbing, the ninth homicide recorded this year on Montreal Island, occurred around 4 p.m. during an altercation that escalated inside the store on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. near Rolland Blvd.

The victim was stabbed in the upper body and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Montreal police announced the man’s death early Wednesday.
