Peel Regional Police are searching for a Brampton man accused of assaulting a police officer and fleeing the scene after a violent confrontation in late May.
The incident occurred on May 26, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., when a patrol officer investigated a vehicle displaying improper licence plates in a parking lot near Peel Centre Drive.
According to police, the driver became uncooperative and fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted the officer during a physical struggle. He then broke free, returned to his vehicle, and attempted to escape.
Investigators say the suspect struck both the officer and a marked police cruiser while driving away in a grey 2007 BMW 525i bearing Ontario licence plate CSLJ609. The officer sustained minor injuries.
Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old David Munoz of Brampton. Authorities say Munoz was prohibited from driving at the time due to previous criminal offences.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest on multiple charges, including assaulting a peace officer, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
