Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev are one step closer to settling their grudge in the octagon.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC 319, du Plessis and Chimaev both successfully made weight for the middleweight championship main event matchup. Chimaev was the first fighter to show up at the scale and he actually came in under the title fight limit at 183 pounds. Du Plessis later hit the mark at 185 pounds to make Saturday’s matchup official.
Middleweight contender Caio Borralho also successfully made weight, coming in at 184 pounds to potentially serve as the backup for the UFC 319 main event.
The biggest story coming out of the morning weigh-ins was Bryan Battle missing weight by four pounds for a second straight fight. Compounding the error is the fact that Battle actually moved up a division from welterweight to middleweight after his previous gaffe and still did not come close, registering at 190 pounds for a 186-pound bout (including the one-pound allowance for a non-title fight).
Battle’s bout with Nursulton Ruziboev is now set to proceed at a catchweight, with Battle forfeiting 30 percent of his purse as penalty.
