The condition of a 60-year-old man struck by a car while crossing the street in Montreal’s La Petite-Patrie neighbourhood just before midnight on Saturday has improved, according to Montreal police.
He was initially reported to be in critical condition, but “he is out of danger,” Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said on Sunday.
Police received a 911 call at 11:55 p.m. Saturday about a pedestrian hit by a car on Papineau Ave., just south of the intersection with St-Zotique St.
On arriving, police found the pedestrian semi-conscious on the ground. He had been struck while crossing Papineau from east to west and was rushed to a hospital with multiple injuries.
The 22-year-old woman at the wheel was not injured and was treated at the scene for shock.
The Montreal police collision unit will investigate to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, but there is no evidence to suggest a criminal act was committed.
