A resident and a firefighter were taken to hospital after a fire at a rooming house in Winnipeg’s North End on Saturday night. 

Fire crews responded to reports of a fire at a two-storey residential building on Redwood Avenue — between Charles and Salter streets — just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, the city said in a news release.

The fire was declared under control just after 10 p.m.

All residents were evacuated from the building, the city said. 

One resident was taken to hospital in unstable condition. A firefighter injured at the scene was taken to hospital in stable condition. 

The fire is being investigated, the city said.
