Many of us know the story of immigration to Montreal through the men who built roads, homes, and businesses. But there is another story that often goes untold which is the story of the women who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, helping build families, communities, and the city’s economy. A new exhibition shines a spotlight on 29 Italian immigrant women who worked in Montreal’s garment and textile industry after World War 2.
