A 47-year-old Airdrie, Alta., woman died in Kananaskis on Saturday after a hiking accident, police say.

The hiker had been summiting Mount Bryant “and fell on her way down,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mathew Howell said.

“She was with several other hikers at the time, and they’re the ones who called the incident in,” he said.

ALTA Paramedic Health said “one person was determined to be deceased” after crews responded to Range Road 73A in Kananaskis at approximately 10:45 a.m.

A helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

RCMP and ALTA Paramedic Health did not provide further details.
