EAST LANSING – The Charlevoix golf team won the 2026 Division Four state championship on Saturday. This victory comes a little over a year after their team bus was intentionally hit by a driver, an incident that seriously injured their head coach and two players.
The win marks a significant comeback for the Rayders, who were unable to complete their 2025 season following the crash. They secured the state title by finishing 17 strokes ahead of the rest of the field, with four team members involved in the bus incident contributing to the championship victory.
Head Coach Doug Drenth was seriously injured in the intentional bus crash. Two players also sustained serious injuries during the incident. Four team members who had been on the bus during the crash played in the championship win.
