Hundreds of rubber ducks took to the water in Eastend over the weekend as the Streambank Golf Course hosted its second annual Duck Derby fundraiser.
The event featured more than 500 ducks being dropped from the suspension bridge near the clubhouse and racing approximately 75 feet downstream.
Nicole Girard, board president of the Streambank Golf Course, said the event continues to receive strong support from the community.
“All of the community members support us by buying ducks and showing up for the tournament,” Girard said. “It’s something that brings in lots of tourists in the summer and people from Cypress Hills, so we’re just super glad to have that available in our community.”
The fundraiser also included a golf tournament that attracted nearly 60 participants.
While final fundraising totals were not immediately available, Girard said organizers expect proceeds to be similar to last year’s event, which raised about $8,900.
Money raised from this year’s Duck Derby will go toward the purchase of a new greens mower for the golf course.
