This downtown Toronto music series has free weekly concerts

It’s time to put on your dancing shoes — an exciting lineup of free weekly concerts are returning to downtown Toronto for a 14th season.

Play the Parks, presented by the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (BIA), is gearing up to launch its 2026 series showcasing a vibrant mix of musical genres from Canadian artists.

“From world, Latin, funk, and jazz, to Afro, rock, classical, hip hop, Indigenous music and more, each performance offers a unique soundscape in the heart of the city,” according to the BIA.

“Whether you drop in for a lunchtime groove or a weekend vibe, there’s no better way to enjoy the season, connect with your community, and celebrate Toronto’s diverse music scene.”

The celebration will take place across “iconic downtown Yonge locations” including 777 Bay Plaza, College Park, College Park Courtyard, Trinity Square Park, and Granby Parkette.

And with it all kicking off this week on June 12, here’s a look at the full schedule.

College Park

Located at 420 Yonge St., Play the Parks will take over College Park on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The lineup includes:

For a weekday evening filled with live performance, Granby Parkette at 431 Yonge St. will host Play the Parks on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The lineup will include:

The celebration will transform Yorkville and venues across the city with live music, free performances and artists from around the world.

And across the festival, there will also be nearly 60 artists participating in over 100 free performances throughout the celebration at parks, public spaces and outdoor stages throughout the city’s Yorkville neighbourhood. For a look at this year’s free programming, check out our story here.

“Yorkville has long been a gathering place for live music, and that sense of discover still defines the neighbourhood today,” said Josh Grossman, artistic director at the Toronto Jazz Festival.

“As the world comes to Toronto for the FIFA World Cup, this programming brings that spirit back into the streets, offering a snapshot of the artists and influences shaping the city. It is an invitation to experience the festival simply by being there.”
