Winnipeggers making their way through the city Tuesday evening are being urged to use caution as severe storms make their way through the area, creating dangerous driving conditions.
The City of Winnipeg says heavy rain has left many streets and underpasses flooded, with standing water reported throughout the city, particularly in low-lying areas.
Motorists are being reminded not to drive through flooded roadways or underpasses, as water depths can be difficult to judge. The city says roads can be damaged beneath the water’s surface, and driving through flooded areas can damage vehicles and leave motorists stranded.

The Higgins Underpass, along with several other underpasses across the city are completely flooded and should be avoided. Numerous streets in North Kildonan and the Valley Gardens area are also filled with water with many impassable.

The city is also reminding motorists to slow down, leave extra stopping distance between vehicles and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm whenever possible.
The severe weather is expected to continue through the evening, with heavy rain and strong winds to impact the area.
