Jake DeBrusk could potentially be moving to another Canadian market.
Per Garrioch, two league sources said they believe the Senators are among a group of teams interested in DeBrusk.
The 29-year-old Edmonton native recorded 23 goals and 19 assists last season for 42 points in 81 games, reaching the 20-goal mark for the fifth time in his career.
DeBrusk has been with the Canucks since signing as a free agent on July 1, 2024. Before his two seasons in Vancouver, he spent seven seasons with the Boston Bruins after being drafted by the organization as the 14th-overall pick in 2015.
He has five seasons left on his seven-year contract, which has a cap hit of $5.5 million. DeBrusk’s contract also includes a no-move clause for the 2026-27 season, followed by a modified no-trade clause for the rest of the contract.
Back in March, DeBrusk told The Province’s Ben Kuzma that a rebuild “is not something I would be OK with or accepting,” adding, “My game doesn’t fit that.”
