Montreal police are stepping up efforts to find an elderly woman who went missing Wednesday, deploying a mobile command post outside Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital in the city’s east end.
In a statement, Montreal police said Thursday their Missing Persons, Family Search and Parental Abduction Team was stationed on l’Assomption Blvd., outside the entrance to the hospital, where officers appealed to the public for information that could help locate Kheira Tarcha. The post is expected to remain there until 9 p.m.
Quebec has also issued a Silver Alert, a public notification system used when a person living with a diagnosed major neurocognitive disorder goes missing and there are concerns for their health or safety.
Tarcha is described by police as a white woman with grey-white hair tied in a ponytail and brown eyes. She is about 168 centimetres tall (5-foot-6), weighing about 70 kilograms (155 pounds).
She is believed to have been wearing black pants, a grey sweater with a black design, a black quilted coat, black shoes and eyeglasses.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact 911.
