A trip to pick up her friends at Vancouver International Airport has made one Surrey resident over $140,000 richer.
Jaspreet K. decided to buy a Lotto 6/49 ticket “on a whim” at a lotto kiosk while she was waiting at the airport for her friends from England to arrive.
She “screamed” when she found out she had matched five out of six numbers and won $143,758.50 in the May 20th draw.
“My whole family was there, and everyone was shocked,” she said. “I’m still in shock. This will change my family’s life.”
Jaspreet said she plans to use some of the money to help her kids, go on vacation, and donate some to charity.
Last January, BCLC began sharing only the first name and last initial for all lottery winners, in an apparent move to protect privacy.
