Blackburn-based Thwaites brewery is giving away weekly £1,000 cash prizes throughout the tournament, with a grand prize of £5,000 up for grabs at the end.

Andrew Buchanan, director of pubs and brewing at Thwaites, said: “We’re really excited to launch this – it’s never been easier for our guests to win big.

“There’s no cap on how many times you can enter, so the more matches you watch in our pubs, the more chance you have of winning.

“It’s that simple.”

During every match shown at participating Thwaites pubs, customers will receive a red card at half-time.

The card features a QR code that, once scanned, enters the guest into the prize draw.

The campaign aims to bring people together to enjoy football in a friendly pub atmosphere.

Mr Buchanan said: “Pubs are places where people come together; they’re hubs for connectivity and socialisation, and in some ways, people’s home from home.

“At Thwaites, we’ve always been big on warm hospitality, in fact it’s been one of our core principles for nearly 220 years.

“If launching this campaign means we’re able to encourage people to join together, then we’ll be very confident it’s been a success.”

Thwaites has also launched a limited-edition beer called Magic Sponge to celebrate the tournament.
