Two women and two girls are facing charges in connection with a break-in and robbery at a convenience store in southeast Winnipeg early Saturday morning.
In a news release police said the four were in an intoxicated state when they went to a convenience store in the 400 block of St. Anne’s Road in the St. Vital area just before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The clerk had locked the doors as they approached to stop them from coming in, police said.
The four then took rocks and vandalized a vehicle parked in front of the store, causing $5,000 worth of damage to the car.
Then two suspects smashed the storefront’s windows and went inside where, police say, they caused further damage before fleeing with stolen goods.
Damage to the store is estimated at $5,000, police said. The clerk wasn’t injured during the incident.
A woman, 21, has been charged with break and enter and robbery, possession of a weapon, two counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with a sentence and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking. Police said she has been detained in custody.
Three other suspects — whose ages range from 14 to 20 — face charges of break and enter and robbery, and two counts of mischief over $5,000. They were released on undertakings.
