VANCOUVER — Metro Vancouver says the union representing its outside workers has agreed to mediation.

It came just as members started full-scale strike action to pressure the employers back to the bargaining table.

The regional district says in a statement that the union has agreed to mediation with the Labour Relations Board.

Metro Vancouver says in a statement that mediation is a practical step to help both parties make meaningful progress in reaching an agreement.
