On the stages of TOHU, STUDIO OF ESPACE ST-DENIS, and GRANDE BIBLIOTHÈQUE’S AUDITORIUM (BANQ), the festival will welcome companies from France, England, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Finland, and, of course, Quebec. Regardless of their age, festival-goers will immerse themselves in the vitality of contemporary circus and discover a rich program of high-quality performances—sometimes touching, surprising, spectacular, or full of humour!

A group of men and women, manipulated, survivors of a world shrouded in silence and devoid of sunlight, look at one another without truly seeing, clinging to life. To their lives. In a controlled microcosm, machines—the creators of this world—play the role of organic artifacts. In this silent machinery, a grain of sand. A character who, without knowing it, seeks the light buried within each of us.

DÉFIS DÉJANTÉS is an interactive circus cabaret inspired by cult TV game shows from the ’80s and ’90s. Featuring… a colorful cast of hosts: from the dapper, sharp-dressed TV charmer of the ’80s to the hyperactive hostess in sky-high heels and peroxide-blonde hair—all the iconic figures from the game shows of your childhood brought together on stage. Audience members will compete in wild challenges between death-defying circus acts, as our performers constantly blur the line between competition and performance. Halfway between sports, comedy, and the circus, this show rewrites the rules of the game, then juggles with them—probably on a unicycle.

Searching For Love from Jerry Tremblay / Canada

An experienced yet unwitting master of awkwardness, Jerry Tremblay—portrayed by renowned circus artist Maxime Poulin—shines through his lack of social skills and his deep desire to be loved. The unforgettable and indescribable winner of the latest season of the show Quel talent!, he will perform his show SEARCHING FOR LOVE, an explosive mix of circus and raunchy humour, offering a hilarious yet touching dive into the sometimes absurd realities of the romantic quest of desperate hearts.

A stuntman at heart, Maxime Poulin grew up with a passion for extreme sports. At 16, he discovered the circus arts and quickly realized that the performing arts would be his path. At 24, he graduated from l’École nationale de cirque de Montréal, where he developed a particular talent for artistic cycling as well as a passion for comedy, theatre and character performance. It was during this period that he created Jerry Tremblay, a character that would become the cornerstone of his career. Since then, Maxime has earned numerous distinctions, winning several awards at prestigious circus festivals across Europe. He has represented Canada three times at the World Artistic Cycling Championships and has presented his humorous and circus acts on various television shows in Canada and Europe. He has also performed more than 1,500 times in some twenty European cabarets and appeared on four continents. Whether through circus or comedy, Maxime places great importance on pushing his own limits. This commitment is reflected in his choice to perform in French, English, Spanish and German, as well as in his ability to deliver impressive circus acts while mastering the art of cabaret direction. His pursuit goes beyond performance: he seeks to challenge himself as a human being, allowing his personal evolution to be reflected in the depth and maturity of his artistic voice. Maxime Poulin adheres to a rigorous artistic ethic rooted in kindness and respect—for both his audience and himself. It is this ethic, combined with his boldness and versatility, that makes him the unique and deeply moving artist he is today.
For better or for worse, Jerry Tremblay guarantees an unforgettable evening filled with surprises—acrobatic, awkward, and humorous! As part of the festival, a brand-new, immersive version of the show will be presented.

But wait—the monster isn’t so bad after all: he’s tall and strong, sturdy and smart. He has nothing to hide and couldn’t care less about rules and social conventions. He’s exciting, different, funny, and not boring at all. Do you dare shake the monster’s hand? DRÔLE DE MONSTRE! shows just how interesting breaking the rules can be—and how much fun it is to break them.
