An e-bike driver sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision with another vehicle in Barrhaven on Tuesday morning, according to emergency services.

The serious collision involving a motorcycle-style electric vehicle and a commercial refrigerated cube van occurred at the intersection of Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive, Ottawa police said in a release.

Ottawa paramedics responded to a call shortly after 9:30 a.m. and transported a man to hospital in critical condition.

The man, who is in his 20s, remains in life-threatening condition, police said. They are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

As of 9:45 a.m., Standherd Drive was closed between Riocan Avenue and Jockvale Road, and Greenbank Road was closed between Marketplace Avenue and Berrigan Drive, police said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
