Summer music series set to open June 27 on platform at Cloverdale Station

The Cloverdale Station Summer Music Festival is back.
The 2026 song fest will hit the platform at the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society (FVHRS) train station from the end of June to the end of August—two months of melodies—and it’s all free.
Allen Aubert, FVHRS secretary, said when the music plays, visitors will be able to attend and take in the various musical performances before they step on their trains or go on the Heritage Rail Adventure. One set will start at 11 a.m. and the second set will play at 1 p.m. Each set will run one hour and it’s free to anyone who wants to come down to the station and soak up some tunes. Bring your own refreshments.
“Performances take place at the station on the patio under the large white awning each Saturday and Sunday for two months featuring an exciting variety of music,” Aubert told the Cloverdale Reporter. “Visitors on Saturday attending the Heritage Railway Adventure and the Sunday Sullivan Excursion both get to enjoy the very special and unique Music Festival. Many visitors come both days.”
This year marks the third annual music fest. Aubert said it wouldn’t be possible without support from the city through the City of Surrey Cultural Grant. He said FVHRS is very grateful to the city for providing the grant.
“The range of musical talent this year is amazing with several new artists,” he added.
Feedback from Heritage Rail’s 2025 fest was “extremely positive,” Aubert noted. The feedback encouraged the society to host it again this year—their 25th anniversary season.
“Many people discovered the heritage railway through the music festival.”
He also noted the not-for-profit society has an unprecedented number of volunteers this year.
“We are enjoying a great public response generated by our activities resulting in new and some very young volunteers applying online to join us,” Aubert explained. “This season we have the greatest number of new volunteers participating across all of our activities.”
He said they average about 30 volunteers onsite on Saturdays and Sundays during their summer season.
Aubert also noted visitor attendance was up almost 40 per cent during May, which historically has been a quiet month for FVHRS. August and September are the busiest, always with sold out trains.
“People are currently booking online, weeks ahead, so not to miss out.”
Currently, the Heritage Rail Adventure—their “ride-everything” experience—is available on Saturdays. The Sullivan Excursion—their 50-minute ride on an interurban car up to Sullivan Park—is available on Sundays.
The Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society operates out of Cloverdale Station and the restoration Car Barn at Hwy 10 and 176A Street, in Surrey—the Cloverdale Heritage Railway Campus.
