Fatal collision shuts down section of Highway 59 near Niverville

A stretch of Highway 59 has been shut down following a fatal collision near Niverville.

St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP say the collision happened shortly after 12:20 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 59, near Prefontaine Road in the RM of Tache.

RCMP say a vehicle collided with a semi-truck. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result, Highway 59, from Provincial Road 210 to Provincial Road 311, is closed.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find another route.
