JGR ON ROAD COURSES: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 10 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victories on road courses in the program’s history. When including street courses, the organization has accumulated 67 top-fives and 120 top-10s across 255 cumulative starts at road course circuits.

WILLIAM SAWALICH

No. 18 Starkey Toyota GR Supra

SAWALICH ON ROAD COURSES: In two road course races so far in 2026, William Sawalich finished sixth at Circuit of the Americas and was running in the top 10 at Watkins Glen before a mechanical issue took the No. 18 out of the race. Last year, Sawalich finished in the top-10 in four of six road course races on the schedule, with issues taking him out of the other two races while running in the top 10.

POCONO RECAP: Sawalich suffered damage early at Pocono, taking him out of contention for the race. Sawalich finished 21st.

ON THE PITBOX: Sawalich is paired with veteran crew chief Jeff Meendering for the 19-year-old’s second NOAPS season. The duo’s Rockingham victory earlier this year was Meendering’s 11th career NOAPS win.

BRENT CREWS

No. 19 Mobil 1 Toyota GR Supra

CREWS AT SAN DIEGO: This weekend will mark Brent Crews’ first appearance at the Naval Base Coronado road course. Crews has built an impressive resume at new tracks, posting four consecutive top-five finishes, including strong runs at first-time tracks such as Kansas, Talladega, and Texas. The 18-year-old is no stranger to road courses. Having grown up racing primarily on them before transitioning to ovals, he has steadily built confidence. In 2025, while competing part-time in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, the 18-year-old led more than 50 laps and came within one position of victory at the Charlotte Roval, ultimately finishing second after surrendering the lead for tires and fuel under the final yellow flag.

CREWS ON ROAD COURSES: In his most recent road course start at Watkins Glen, Brent Crews pulled double duty, driving for Tricon Garage in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series before climbing into the No. 19 Toyota GR Supra on Saturday. In the Truck Series, the 18-year-old was fastest in practice and earned his first NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series pole award. Crews led 19 laps and finished seventh in the 74-lap event. The next day, Crews was fastest in O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and quickly worked his way to the front, claiming his first stage win and making history in the process. Crews became the youngest O’Reilly Auto Parts Series stage winner, led 32 laps, recorded the Xfinity Fastest Lap of the race, and finished Stage Two in second. Unfortunately, a late mechanical issue relegated Crews to a sixth-place finish. His first start in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series came at Circuit of the Americas, where he qualified seventh and led five laps before a sixth-place finish at just 17 years old. From 2016 to 2021, Crews won 12 national championships in road course karting.

POCONO RECAP: Last weekend at Pocono Raceway, Brent Crews continued to build on his rookie season with another second-place finish, and his third second-place finish at a new track. At ‘The Tricky Triangle’, Crews qualified eighth and won the second stage of the race, claiming 10 stage points. The 18-year-old led nine laps before ultimately settling for second. So far this season, the rookie has posted six top-fives, nine top 10’s, and led over 120 laps within 13 starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts series.

SETH CHAVKA: 2026 will mark Chavka’s third consecutive season atop the O’Reilly No. 19 pit box. Last year, the Alaska native led the No. 19 team to three trips to victory lane with veteran driver Aric Almirola and capped off the season by capturing the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Owners Championship with multiple drivers throughout the 2025 season.

BRANDON JONES

No. 20 Little Giant/Menards Toyota GR Supra

JONES ON ROAD COURSES: Brandon Jones has 54 road course starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series as he heads to Naval Base Coronado for the first time this weekend. Jones is still in pursuit of his first career road course victory in the series, but has tallied six top-fives, 14 top 10s, and led 49 laps in his attempts up until this point. His best performance on a road course came in 2020 when he scored a runner-up finish at Daytona International Speedway.

POCONO RECAP: Brandon Jones kicked off his Saturday in Pocono with his 15th career NASCAR O’Reilly Series pole and his first of the 2026 season. After getting passed for the lead on the first lap, Jones ran with the leaders and scored a fifth-place finish in Stage One. During stage break pit stops, Jones suffered an equipment interference penalty, which sent him to the tail end of the lead lap to start Stage Two. Jones worked to overcome the setback and rebounded respectably, as he finished 12th in Stage Two. Jones had a quiet final stage and ultimately finished eighth in the race, marking his 10th top-10 of the season.

CREW CHIEF: Sam McAulay scored his fifth-career NOAPS pole award this past weekend in Pocono and now heads to Naval Base Coronado for the first time in his career. McAulay has led 14 total road course starts in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series heading into this weekend. Across those entries, McAulay’s teams have scored three top-fives, four top 10s, and carry a best finish of second, which came twice in 2024 at Sonoma and Watkins Glen. In total, McAulay has scored 27 top‑fives, 46 top‑10s, and two victories as he works through his third full-time season as a crew chief in the series.

TAYLOR GRAY

No. 54 Columbia Bank Toyota GR Supra

GRAY ON ROAD COURSES: In eight career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts on road courses, Taylor Gray has finished seventh or better four times, including a third-place finish at Watkins Glen International last month. His best result was a second-place finish at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City last season. In six NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts on road courses, Gray’s best performance came in 2024 when he started third and finished second at Circuit of the Americas. The New Mexico native also claimed an ARCA Menards Series victory at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in July 2022.

POCONO RECAP: Gray finished 17th in last weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway. After starting second, he led 24 of the first 26 laps and won stage one. A variety of pit strategies shuffled Gray down the leaderboard and he spent the remainder of the race trying to battle back. He eventually found his way inside the top five for a late restart. Unfortunately, he was spun from behind and dropped back to 17th at the checkered flag.

CREW CHIEF: Veteran crew chief Jason Ratcliff is overseeing the No. 54 O’Reilly Series team this season. Ratcliff is the winningest crew chief in O’Reilly Series history with 59 victories. In his career, Ratcliff has a pair of road course wins with Christopher Bell at Road America in 2019 and another with Ty Gibbs at the Indianapolis road course in 2023.
