The Calgary Catholic School District has re-elected Lory Iovinelli as board chair and elected Steve Chapman as vice-chair for the 2026-2027 school year.

The decision was made at the district’s organizational board meeting on June 17 at the Catholic School Centre, according to a release from the district.
Airdrie connection
The board includes Maria-Teresa (MT) Vecchio-Romano, who represents wards 4, 7 and Airdrie.

Airdrie schools listed under Vecchio-Romano’s representation are Good Shepherd School, Our Lady Queen of Peace School, St. Martin de Porres High School and St. Veronica School.
Her representation also includes Corpus Christi School, St. Helena School, Mother Mary Greene School, St. Dominic School, St. Francis High School, St. Jean Brebeuf School, St. Bede School, St. Henry School, St. Hubert School, St. Luke School, St. Margaret School, St. Pius X School, Madeleine D’Houet School and St. Joseph School.
Board leadership
Iovinelli represents wards 6, 8 and specialized programs. According to the district, she is a former Calgary Catholic teacher and is serving her third term as trustee.
The district said Iovinelli has held several leadership and representative roles locally and provincially, including with the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association, St. Mary’s University, Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education and the district’s GrACE Grass Roots Organization.
Chapman represents wards 13 and 14 and is serving his first term as trustee.
According to the district, Chapman previously worked with the Calgary Police Service in patrol, traffic and special investigations. The district said he helped create the Youth Gang Task Force while working in major crimes.

The Calgary Catholic board of trustees includes Myra D’Souza, representing wards 1, 2 and Cochrane; Terry W.N. Thuo, representing wards 3 and 5; Vecchio-Romano, representing wards 4, 7 and Airdrie; Iovinelli, representing wards 6, 8 and specialized programs; Shannon Cook, representing wards 9, 10, Chestermere and online learning; Chantelle Dur, representing wards 11 and 12; and Chapman, representing wards 13 and 14.
The district says it serves approximately 64,000 students in 120 schools in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere and Rocky View County.
