The Texans opened their 2025 season with a 1-0 win against UTRGV on Thursday night, remaining undefeated against the Vaqueros. UTRGV is currently Tarleton State’s most common regular season opponent, as this is their fourth consecutive year to meet.

Head coach Pete Cuadrado is in his 22nd season as a collegiate head coach and his fourth season with Tarleton State. He began his career at North Dakota State before moving to Wyoming in 2012, and then to TSU in 2021. Cuadrado currently has 188 career wins, securing 20 of those with the Texans.

11 new athletes are entering the program for the 2025 season, as well as 16 returning Texans. TSU’s 27-woman roster includes seven international players from two different countries: Australia and Canada.

Eight current Texans have been pillars in building the foundation of the program, competing with Tarleton State Women’s Soccer since its beginning in 2022. These athletes include Mikayla Kendall, Rylie Bloomfield, Avery Harr, Kyra Goudzwaard, Kaitlyn Flanagan, Teeghan Dodd, Jaycie Bass and Macy Hellwig. All eight athletes are now academic seniors and will be graduating during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Mikayla Kendall, a senior goalkeeper from Orange, California, returns for her fourth and final season with the Texans. The nationally ranked senior has been a key player over the past three years, totaling 106 saves in the 2024 season. In a recent release, Kendall was named one of 13 women’s Division I goalkeepers to watch ahead of the 2025 season by the United Soccer Coaches. She is the only goalie selected from a university in Texas. Kendall was also named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s All-Pacific Region Second Team.

The Purple and White welcomed a fresh, new face to their coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season. Former D3 head coach, Lexi Stinson, has joined Tarleton State Women’s Soccer as their newest assistant coach. Stinson spent the last eight years as the head coach of the University of Dallas women’s soccer program. Assistant coaches Rex Carrell and Bailey Chaviers-Bledsoe also returned with the Texans. Carrell has helped to build the program since its start in 2021 and will be entering his fifth season with the Texans, while Chaviers-Bledsoe will be entering her second year with the program.

The 2025 WAC conference schedule consists of 10 games, with only six teams being active members in the league this year. The 2025 WAC Tournament will be hosted by Utah Valley and will be held at UCCU Stadium in Orem, Utah from November 5-8.

Tarleton State will remain home this week to host its Back 2 School Bash and will be taking on Northwestern State on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The Texans will then be on the road again for their matchup against Texas Southern on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Alexander Durley Stadium in Houston, Texas.
